Superb stately mansion affording guests the unique opportunity to stay at the official residence of the Prince de Polignac, a member of one of the oldest families in France, whose title - Princeps Romanus - was conferred on his great great grandfather Count Jules Armand de Polignac (1780-1847) in 1822 by Pope Pius VII. The title of Prince was confirmed by the French king Charles X. Prince Jules Armand was appointed Chief Minister and asked to form a government in 1829 by Charles. He has also spent some time in England and married Barbara Campbell in London in 1816. He was imprisoned by Napoleon I after taking part in a failed assassination conspiracy. His mother, Yolande Martine Gabrielle de Polastron, was a close friend of Marie-Antoinette. Prince Rainer of Monaco is the son of a member of the Polignac family, Count Pierre Marie Xavier Antoine Melchior de Polignac, who was created Prince of Monaco in 1920.

This outstanding property is surrounded by an estate of 20 acres of wooded parkland which contains an 8 hectare swimming lake with island and rowing boat. The château is filled with antiques, wall tapestries and paintings and the entrance hall has a magnificent sweeping staircase - the only example of its kind in France.

La Jumellière is a small friendly village of just over 1000 inhabitants which is located at the confluence of the Rivers Oyon and Jeu and is only about 10 km south of the Loire itself. Angers is only 20km away.

N.B. REDUCTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SMALLER PARTIES

The first 100kw of electricity per week is included in the rental. Any additional consumption and heating will be charged at cost. Bed linen and towels are included in the rental. The owner will require a fully refundable security deposit of £250.00 on arrival. The caretakers can provide a cleaning service and can also cook meals for guests.

Central heating is charged at 240 Euros per week from April-October and 320 Euros per week from November to March.

PLEASE REMEMBER that in France end of stay cleaning is considered to be the responsibility of the holidaymaker. Failure to leave the property as you find it will result in a deduction for cleaning being made from your security deposit
